About

For a Canadian born and raised in the suburbs of the GTA, the Appalachian Trail is not a commonly known hike. In fact, for most (if not all) of my friends and family, the term ‘thru-hiking’ is foreign. For me however, attempting to hike the 2200 mile trail in a single continuous journey, will be the adventure of a lifetime…and I want to share it with you!

My hope is that this blog will not only shed some light on what I hope to accomplish, but also calm the concerns of those who care for me. My goal is to keep accountable to planning and pursuing this dream by continuing to share my research, preparations, and expectations before my departure.

The Appalachian National Scenic Trail (A.T) is a hiking trail that spans approximately 2,200 miles ( 3,500 km for us Canadians). It runs through 14 eastern states  ( GeorgiaNorth CarolinaTennesseeVirginiaWest Virginia, Maryland,    PennsylvaniaNew JerseyNew YorkConnecticutMassachusettsVermontNew Hampshire, and Maine), and will take approximately 6 months to complete. Each year thousands of people attempt a thru-hike of the A.T, but only about 20% complete the journey. I hope to be among the 1/5 to endure.
